Louise Lecavalier/Fou Glorieux: Battleground

(Montréal/Canada)

The modern Amazon of contemporary dance with her boundless energy is back! For many years Louise Lecavalier was the front woman for the company La La La Human Steps. Now the Canadian dance icon returns to the stage as her own choreographer with a style that lies somewhere between dance and urban guerrilla. In a work inspired by “The Nonexistent Knight”, a literary character created by Italo Calvino, the dancer performs first a pulsating, driven solo representing a search for identity and ideals, and then embarks with her companion on a surreal journey of two lost souls. Performing to live music against a subtly lit, minimalistic backdrop, Lecavalier electrifies the stage with her skittish elegance and, as always, fascinates her audience with her indestructible strength.

„Louise Lecavalier has reinvented herself—without losing the daredevil energy audiences love her for.“ – Dance Magazine, USA

„Lecavalier is a true star, one of those rare performers able to capture the public’s heart and soul.“ – The Dance Current, Canada
