Description
While youth is often idealised in dance, the Berlin Dance On Ensemble celebrates ageing. The excellent dancers in this company are all over 40 years old and embody precisely those mature, strong personalities that we love in dance. They incorporate their physical knowledge and experience into their creations and are impressively expressive and graceful. Throughout their lives, they have devoted themselves to the impulses of new choreographers and developed their art further. For the performance MELLOWING, they explore moments of perception and the intensity of the moment in collaboration with Greek choreographer Christos Papadopoulos. Like a swarm, the dancers move synchronously across the stage, until, through minimal, original variations, a current of ever-increasing force emerges. The tense minimalism is transforms into pure energy - “mellowing” not only refers to a gentle release, but also describes the maturing of a body's best qualities.
