Description
Hofesh Shechter sends his wild inimitable dancers into the realm of dreams: curtains open and close, revealing surreal scenes where fears and desires collide. A dreamscape is created on stage in which ever-new images flare up in corridors of light. The London-based choreographer propels his dancers deep into the subconscious, juxtaposing hypnotic images with hard rhythms that pulsate beneath the surface. A band plays bossa nova, a sad love song drifts through a hall of mirrors rich with associations, a humble generation of humans’ marvels at itself in movements that flow and bounce. The theatre of dreams transforms into a dark theatre of our world, tainted with despair, but Shechter leaves audiences with an image of a euphorically undulating community, dancing against all the suffering.
